IMF delegation calls on NPC Vice-Chair Shrestha

KATHMANDU, July 24: A delegation led by International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief Tidiane Kinda today called on National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chair Dr Min Bahadur Shrestha.

KATHMANDU, July 24: A delegation led by International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief Tidiane Kinda today called on National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chair Dr Min Bahadur Shrestha. 


During a courtesy meeting held at the NPC Office in Singha Durbar, the IMF mission was concerned about the formulation of the upcoming 16th five-year periodic plan to be prepared by the NPC.


Matters relating to Nepal's economic development, government policies and planning, and the implementation status of the recommendations for public investment management assessment were also discussed during the meeting.

Likewise, the meeting discussed Nepal's upgrading from the Least Developed Country status, the situation of Nepal's capital expenditures and short-term and long-term challenges facing the economy. 


As per the proposal endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly, Nepal aims to be a middle-income country by December 2026. 


On the occasion, the NPC Vice-Chair thanked the IMF for its support to Nepal. The team that arrived on July 20 will stay here till July 26. The delegation also included Teresa Daban Sanchez, IMF Resident Representative to Nepal.
