Illegal Sal timber worth Rs 200,000 recovered

KAPILVASTU, Oct 21: Police have recovered illegal sal wood hidden in a pond at Chhapiya, Ward 1 of Kapilvastu. The timber is said to be worth more than Rs 200,000.

KAPILVASTU, Oct 21: Police have recovered illegal sal wood hidden in a pond at Chhapiya, Ward 1 of Kapilvastu. The timber is said to be worth more than Rs 200,000.


According to Dharmaraj Bhandari, Deputy Superintendent of Police, nine pieces of timber (48 cu ft) worth Rs 200,000 were recovered when a police team conducted a search in the pond on the basis of a tip-off. He said that the recovered timber was sent to the Division Forest Office, Kapilvastu.

Meanwhile, three persons including Radhe Shyam Raidas, 50, of Kapilvastu Municipality-1 have been arrested with 900 mg of brown sugar. Police arrested him on Tuesday evening along with seven capsules of a drug named Spasmo. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dharmaraj Bhandari said that the police raided and arrested them on the basis of information that drug trafficking was taking place.


Police searched his house and found the drug hidden in a plastic bag. The police are conducting further investigation in this regard, according to Bhandari.
