KATHMANDU, May 24: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has declared that if any of the corruption allegations against him are proven true, he will not only resign from his position but retire from politics altogether.
He made this statement on Saturday in response to media reports surrounding his alleged involvement in the visit visa scam at Tribhuvan International Airport’s immigration office.

Claiming the allegations against him are baseless, Minister Lekhak said, “I would like to tell everyone that if, regarding not just the visit visa issue at Tribhuvan International Airport but in any aspect of my public or political life, even a single instance of financial irregularity by me is proven, then I will resign—not just from my position but from politics itself.”
Earlier the same day, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) issued a statement accusing Home Minister Lekhak and his secretariat of being involved in human trafficking through the misuse of visit visas and demanded his immediate resignation for an impartial investigation.
Similarly, the Ministry of Home Affairs also released a statement denying any involvement of the ministry’s leadership in the immigration-related incident.
