Identities of three missing Nepali nationals revealed in Rudraprayag landslide

MAHENDRANAGAR, Aug 5: The names of three Nepali individuals, who went missing in a devastating landslide in Rudraprayag, India, have been revealed. 

Tek Bahadur Kami, Prakash Kami, and Devi Kami from Kalikot have been identified as the missing victims.

Uma Prasad Chartuvedi, Senior Superintendent of Police from the Nepal Police stationed at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, India, confirmed that the relatives of the missing individuals present at the incident site helped identify the bodies. These three individuals from Kalikot had been working in the Gaurikund area, and their identities were established based on information provided by their family members.

Senior Superintendent of Police Chartuvedi further revealed that many Nepali citizens were residing near the location of the incident, engaging in various occupations such as horse driving and running small hotels. The Indian authorities are actively collaborating in the search and rescue efforts for the missing persons.

Since Thursday night, a total of 19 people, including 13 Nepali citizens, have been reported missing in the landslide caused by heavy rainfall in Gaurikund, Rudraprayag. Among the missing, several individuals had been working in the area for an extended period, alongside their family members. The landslide also resulted in the destruction of three hotels operated by Nepali citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely coordinating search and rescue operations through the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.
