“500ml pack of our Snow Fun icecream now costs Rs120, up from last year´s Rs 110,” Ghimire said, adding that price of Choco Bar and Nutty Crunchy too has increased by Rs 5 per piece each to Rs 45 and Rs 50 respectively. Similarly, price of Snow Fun´s 100ml pack has increased by Rs 5 to Rs 35.
ND´s, Snow Fun, Suzi´s, Frosty, Azzabko, Baskin-Robbins and Cream Bell are some of the icecream brands available in Nepal. Baskin-Robbins and Cream Bell icecreams are imported from India, while the rest are produced locally.
These brands are available in wide range of flavors like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, butter scotch, pistachio, keshar badaam, alfonso, cotton candy, rum raisin, mango, pineapple, 21 love, fruity nutty, chocolate chips, cappuccino, coffee mocha and mint among others.
ND´s has also raised prices of its products. It has raised prices of 500ml pack by Rs 25.
Kalpana Kattel, marketing officer of Suzi´s, said the company was forced to increase price to meet increasing manufacturing costs. “As prices of all major raw materials have increased, we were left with no option than to increase the price,” added Kattel.
Price of 100ml pack of Suzi´s icecream has increased by Rs 10 per pack.
“icecream has become dearer, but price hike hasn´t affected sales,” Hari Dahal, proprietor of Ganga and Sons Grocery, Anamnagar.
Lata Gurung, account manager of Cream Bell, said they have increased icecream prices by Rs 50-60 per 500ml as prices have increased in India itself.
Baskin-Robbins, however, has left the prices unchanged. Rohini Shrestha, account manager of Baskin-Robbins, said they haven´t raised prices because Baskin-Robbins India has not raise icecream prices. Baskin-Robbins´ 500ml pack costs in range of Rs 350-400, depending on flavors.
