HURFON urges not to issue ordinances

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The National Human Rights Foundation (HURFON) has said that ordinances related to forced disappearances and truth and reconciliation commission the government is planning to bring in soon are against the universal principles of human rights.



The ordinances drafted without holding discussions with the stakeholders and political parties would not be implemented easily, said the Foundation urging the government not to issue it.[break]



In a press note today, the Foundation has said its serious attention has been drawn towards the ordinances and termed them against the Comprehensive Peace Accord, universal principles of human rights, rule of law and the principles propounded by the Supreme Court.



The Foundation has demanded the government and the political parties to ensure justice to the victims as well.
