KATHMANDU, Dec 29: A huge crowd of visitors thronged the 'Brand Nepal Go Local 2019' – a Nepali brand carnival organized by Radio Nagarik 96.5 MHz – at Chhaya Centre in Thamel on Saturday.
The brand carnival showcasing locally made products saw more than 10,000 visitors, according to the organizers.
The participating Nepali brands had stalls displaying footwear by Dulla, Dochaa, Mely Designs; accessories by Pinches Artcore, Aamo Jewelers, Kolpa Bags, Bishrom, Nuga; art and souvenirs by Studio Sarcastic, Badge Nepal, Handicrafts Sumukhi, Kala Kathmandu; clothings by Shibori Nepal, Bora Bora, Looga Wears, Kallisto Designs, Joba, Ekadesma Collective, Lakhey Nepal; and food items by Wow, Dip In Donuts, Best Mad Honey and Danfe, among others.

Likewise, artists from Circus Kathmandu, Nepal Hip Hop Foundation, among others, performed at the carnival. Artha Band Nepal performed live music at the venue, while there were many other fun games like human jenga, snakes and ladders, beer pong and more.
According to the organizers, the event will help expand the market of Nepal-made products. Participating brands discounts of up to 50%, they added.
Presa Shrestha, the coordinator of the event, said the number of participants has increased significantly this year. “Keeping the increasing brand awareness among people in mind, the event is organized once a year to promote Nepali brands,” she added. She said the event has become a milestone in making different Nepali products available under one single roof.
Participating entrepreneurs, on the other hand, are also happy to have been a part of such a program. One of the entrepreneurs Rujala Dahal shared that the fair will help in branding of Nepali products.
Similarly, Suryadev Chaudhary, supervisor of I Am The Gardener, said that the event has provided the platform to showcase the right valuation of the products. “My products got a good exposure at the event compared to last year,” he said, adding: “With the increased participation; we have started getting good orders.”
Similarly, Rohit Awasthi, a visitor of the event, said that different brands are available under a single roof. “As the stalls are showcasing products of my choice, I have come with all of my family members today,” he said
There were attractive door prizes on offer too. Bikram Maharjan and Khandro Gurung received Nepali carpet worth Rs 11,000 from Hoste ma Haise and a food coupon for two from Achaar Ghar.
The daylong carnival began from 11 am and ended at 5 pm. Sponsored by Hero X Pulse 200, this is the second edition of the carnival.
