Huawei to support cultivate 100,000 digital talents in South Asia

KATHMANDU, May 21: Huawei has said that it will support South Asian countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to cultivate 100,000 digital talents over the next five years.

KATHMANDU, May 21: Huawei has said that it will support South Asian countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to cultivate 100,000 digital talents over the next five years. 


Speaking at a virtual Digital Talent Regional Summit, Jay Chen, vice president of Huawei Asia Pacific, said, “Huawei expects to develop more than 100,000 ICT talents and build a vibrant digital talent ecosystem in this dynamic region, especially Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal In the next five years.”

The company said that it will carry out the project in collaboration with the governments, universities and industrial partners. 


“Digital talents’ development is always an important element of digitization, and the Government of Nepal is always working to expand technology in the country and make the digital Nepal campaign a success by creating a roster of technology experts,” said Hari Bashyal, secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.


Themed “Cultivating a Talent Ecosystem for Inclusive Digital Prosperity,” the summit brought together ministers and scholars from the three countries, experts and representatives from UNESCO and the ICT industry, to explore collaborative initiatives for closing the digital skill gaps and facilitating the digital transformation in the post-pandemic economic recovery.
