House panel tells KUKL to minimize dust pollution

KATHMANDU, March 15: Stating that the digging up of roads and the pipe laying work of the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) has severely affected the health of the general public, the Environment Conservation Committee of parliament has instructed the KUKL to immediately adopt measures to minimize the dust pollution caused by its activities.

KATHMANDU, March 15: Stating that the digging up of roads and the pipe laying work of the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) has severely affected the health of the general public, the Environment Conservation Committee of parliament has instructed the KUKL to immediately adopt measures to minimize the dust pollution caused by its activities.



The decision was taken during the committee's meeting on Tuesday. As per the decision, KUKL has been instructed to take measures, such as sprinkling water on the roads affected by its work, add bitumen on blacktopped road, and speed up blacktopping of the affected roads.

The committee further instructed KUKL to deploy more workers to speed-up the work and implement its project in environment-friendly manner. The Project Implementation Directorate (PID) has been instructed to effectively monitor the implementation and submit progress report every 15 days.
