House committee asks govt to supply drinking water to every household

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Parliament's Development Committee has asked the government to set up drinking water taps in every single house to make safe drinking water accessible.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Parliament's Development Committee has asked the government to set up drinking water taps in every single house to make safe drinking water accessible.



The committee's meeting held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday also ordered the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Water Supply and Sanitation ensure that the government bodies supply drinking water to every household.



“It is mandatory for every country to supply safe drinking water to the entire citizen,” reads a statement issued by the committee. “The government should supply drinking water at affordable cost to the general public. So, we request all the government bodies to supply drinking water to every people.”



The meeting also asked them to develop rural friendly infrastructures to supply drinking water in hill districts.
