While UCPN (Maoist) leader Dinanath Sharma criticized other parties allegedly for being reluctant to speed up the constitution writing process, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh emphasized on the need for giving further momentum to the peace process.[break]
Sharma claimed that the Maoist party has been sincerely taking concrete initiatives to advance the peace process as per the spirit of the five-point deal but other parties are not reciprocating. "We have already ended the dual security arrangement and have been seriously working to finalize the plan of action through the special committee with regard to accomplishing the army integration process," he said at the parliament, adding, "But other parties are not ready to take ahead both the constitution writing and peace process simultaneously."
But NC Deputy Parliamentary Party leader Singh argued that there has been significant progress in statute drafting in comparison to the peace process. "Lack of progress in the peace process is the main reason behind the eroding mutual trust among the major political parties," he said.
Ram Nath Dhakal of CPN-UML also criticized the top party leaders for not expediting the statute drafting process mainly after the extension of the Constituent Assembly (CA) term.
"As some concrete steps have been taken recently we have seen a ray of hope with regard to advancing the peace process but the constitution writing front is disappointing because not a single meeting of the subcommittee, which is mandated to settle the disputes, has taken place since the CA term extension," said Dhakal.

Parties fail to form House panel for monitoring 5-pt deal
The major political parties have failed to form the proposed Special Parliamentary Monitoring Committee to monitor the progress in implementing the five-point agreement.
Leaders said formation of the committee has been delayed as the UCPN (Maoist) is yet to finalize the names of its representatives for the body.
"We are holding discussions in the party in connection with nominating members. We will finalize it within a couple of days," Maoist Chief Whip Posta Bahadur Bogati told Republica.
The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), the ruling CPN-UML and other parties, who have claimed that they are ready to nominate their representatives, have not done so either.
Sources at the Parliament Secretariat said, though other parties have been claiming that they have readied the names from their respective parties, the secretariat has not received names from non-Maoist parties as well.
Parliament sources said leaders had reached an understanding to form such a committee headed by Speaker Subas Nembang.
