KATHMANDU, June 26: In a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday, lawmakers demanded time from the Speaker to draw the government's attention towards various contemporary issues ranging from lightning fatalities to the social 'intolerance' towards inter-caste marriages.

Once the session convened, Dipak Giri sought time from Speaker Devraj Ghimire and apprised the House of the deaths of four from lightning strikes in Dang and Baglung recently. He demanded a compensation of Rs 1 million each to the bereaved families.

It may be noted that Ram Narayan Chaudhary and Samir KC of Dang were killed by lightning two days back and two-year-old Dinesh BK and Sunita BK were hit by thunderbolts and died a few days ago.

Raghuji Panta expressed his concern over social 'intolerance' towards an inter-caste marriage in Saptari.
