KATHMANDU, June 24: Amaze - a compact sedan from the Honda stable - is now available in Nepal.

Syakar Trading Company (STC), the authorized distributor for Honda cars in Nepal, introduced the vehicle amid a function on Monday.

According to officials of STC, the Amaze has incorporated Honda´s technologies to deliver great performance and better fuel efficiency in a spacious, comfortable and attractive looks. [break]

“Honda Amaze was developed at Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co located in Bangkok, Thailand following extensive market surveys in India on people´s driving needs and lifestyles,” STC said in a statement.

The petrol variant of the Amaze is powered by a 1.2-liter 4 cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine that delivers maximum output of 88 PS @ 6000 rpm and torque of 109 Nm@ 4500 rpm. As per the test data, Amaze delivers mileage of 18 km per liter in manual transmission and 15.5 km per liter in automatic transmission.

“The design theme adopted for Amaze is Smart Micro Limousine which reflects values of stylish design, compactness, maneuverability and class leading space,” Saurabh Jyoti, chairman of STC, said, launching the car.

According to the company, the car´s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACETM) body enhances self-protection while mitigating damage to other vehicles in the event of a collision. “The Amaze features safety technologies like dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brake system which prevents wheel locking, electronic brake distribution which enhances braking performance, pretentioner seat belts with load limiters and impact mitigating headrests,” the statement said, adding that the front body structure of the car is equipped with pedestrian injury mitigation technology designed to absorb impact energy.

Officials of Honda are quite optimistic about the performance of the compact sedan in the Nepali market. “We are confident that the car will exceed customer´s expectations in here as Nepali customers have been demanding the car since it was launched in India two months ago,” Shigeru Yamazaki, director and senior vice president - sales and marketing of Honda Cars India, said. “This is why we brought it here as soon as it was launched in India.”

Speaking on the occasion, Jyoti said the exterior of the car is smooth and strong with distinctive character lines from front to rear which ensures strong road presence even with compact dimensions. “We plan to sell 320 units of Amaze in the next fiscal year,” said Jyoti.

Honda Amaze is available in six exciting colors. Currently, only the models with manual transmission are available in Nepal. However, officials of STC said they would import Amaze with automatic transmission if there is an order.

The company has fixed the price of Amaze EMT, EXMT and SMT at Rs 2.55 million, Rs 2.65 million and Rs 2.8 million, respectively.
