KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Holocaust Memorial Day is being observed worldwide with the aim of ensuring that the horrific genocide of World War II is never repeated and to promote global brotherhood, love and harmony.
The United Nations General Assembly's Resolution 60/7 designated January 27 as the annual International Day of Holocaust Remembrance to honor the victims of the Holocaust. This day is commemorated with various programs at the UN headquarters in New York and United Nations offices worldwide. Over six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.
Survivors unite to deliver message on Holocaust remembrance
The Israeli Embassy, along with the embassies of the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany, is jointly organizing a memorial event in Kathmandu today, Israeli Ambassador Shmueli Ari Bass said.
