Drinking water is the perennial problem in Churiyamai. Though the drinking water project started in 2062/063 fiscal year, it hasn´t made any headway due to lack of budget.

The protest was staged to protest the decision of the government to release only Rs. 5.8 million instead of the required amount of Rs. 10.2 million, said Dhan Bahadur Pakhrin, vice-chairman of consumer committee. As of now Rs. 10.64 million has been spent on the project, he added.
