One needs to have a purpose in life and to fulfill that purpose, one has to have determination and courage. Without which s/he cannot face any obstacles on their way toward the goal. And a 26-year-old Bikash Kumar Chepang in Kusum Khola, a remote village in Madi has a purpose in his life—to teach children of his community. Even though he has just passed grade 8, he is willing to educate the children of his community which he has been doing since 2072 BS. "I worked in a home of Brahmin family where they enrolled me in school. However, due to their financial condition, they could not employ me and unfortunately, I could not continue my education as well and returned home. Then to support my family, I went to Pokhara and started working as a laborer to support my family,” explains Bikash.

His village consists, a total of 120 Chepang households, who have migrated from different places such as Dhading, Makwanpur, Chitwan and more, due to the problems such as floods, landslides, etc. These migrants face various problems here as well, where the village does not have electric lights, there is not any proper road and they are living a vulnerable life, as they don’t know when they might get attacked by wild animals.

However, he has his share of struggles where he had to face a financial crisis to operate the classroom in his house. Then, the storm also destroyed his place where he teaches the students. Moreover, few organizations planted false hope. Nevertheless, he is still hopeful and willing to increase his skills as a teacher upon getting proper training.
