Gurukul won all the 10 league matches of the tournament while Golden Gate suffered defeat twice against Gurukul. Nayabazar Club finished third in the league stage with five wins and five defeats while White House won four and lost six games to secure its place in the last four. White House beat NASA 71-58 on Saturday. White House took the first quarter 24-8. Showing some resistance NASA scored 17 in the second quarter against 16 scored by White House. White House extended its lead with a third quarter score of 17-13. In the last quarter, NASA scored 20 points against 14 scored by White House but could not avoid the defeat. Sanjay Byanjankar scored 27 points for the winning side.
Nayabazar beat Army Club 62-56 in the second match of the day to pave the way for White House to enter the semifinals. Nayabazar clinched the victory with quarterly scores of 20-9, 9-14, 16-10 and 17-23 respectively.
Sagar Thapa played a vital role in Nayabazar´s win as he blocked several of army´s shots. Bishal Tamang also fulfilled his duty of marking Army´s Siddhartha Maharjan, who is fifth on the topscorers list. Ashim Shrestha scored 19 and Ayush Singh scored 16 points for the winning team.
In another match, Gurukul beat Golden Gate 101-71. Gurukul dominated the show as it took the first quarter 24-14. The second quarter ended at 22-22 while Gurukul took the final two quarters 29-14 and 26-21 respectively. Sadish Pradhan, the leading scorer of the tournament, contributed 28 points for Gurukul.
Gurukul will meet White House on Tuesday in the semifinal while host Nayabazar will take on Golden Gate. The final will be on Saturday.
