MUMBAI, April 14: Gunshots were heard outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area early on Sunday, with the police saying that five rounds were fired by unidentified assailants.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that five rounds were fired by two unidentified bike-borne assailants at around 5 am outside the actor’s Galaxy Apartment residence, a police officer said.
Salman Khan, who has Y-plus category security, was at home when the incident took place. The Bandra police are in process of filing a First Information Report. Besides that, local police’s crime branch officials, too, have launched a parallel investigation.
2018 not a good year for three Khans
The police informed that the attackers were wearing helmets and they were checking CCTV footage from the area to track them down.
The Mumbai police, in September 2023, had reviewed the security provided to Salman Khan and asked him to be alert, following threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi, via a Facebook post, had claimed responsibility for a firing incident outside Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal residence in Canada.
“You consider Salman Khan a brother, but now it’s time for your ‘brother’ to come and save you. This message is also for Salman Khan – don’t be in the illusion that Dawood will save you; no one can save you. Your dramatic response to Sidhu Moose Wala’s death did not go unnoticed. We all know the kind of person he was and the criminal associations he had… You’ve now landed on our radar. Consider this a trailer; the full film will be released soon. Flee to any country you wish, but remember, death doesn’t require a visa; it comes uninvited,” Bishnoi had written.
In March 2023, Bishnoi had also allegedly sent a threat mail to Salman Khan.
