KATHMANDU, May 27: The Cabinet transferred eight special class secretaries serving in various government bodies during a meeting held Monday evening at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.
A source at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers said the government transferred Secretary Hari Prasad Mainali from the administrative division of the Ministry of Health and Population to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. It appointed Dilliram Sharma, Secretary at the Public Service Commission, to replace him in the administrative division of the Health Ministry.
The Ministry of Culture had remained without a secretary since Binod Prakash Singh retired on May 8. The government also transferred Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire from the Office of the President to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies as Commerce Secretary. It reassigned the current Commerce Secretary, Govinda Bahadur Karki, to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

The government transferred Dr Deepak Kafle, Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, to the Office of the President. It reassigned Chudamani Paudel, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, to the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
Likewise, it transferred Kiran Raj Sharma, secretary at the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission, to the Public Service Commission. The government also moved Raghu Ram Bista, Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province, to the Office of the Auditor General, where the secretary position had been vacant.
A minister said the Cabinet meeting promoted Bhupal Baral to the vacant administrative secretary position and Dinanath Sharma to the vacant technical secretary position. A source said the government assigned Sharma to the Water and Energy Commission after his promotion.
The government appointed Baral as the Chief Secretary of Bagmati Province following his promotion. In its previous meeting, the Cabinet had promoted Shobha Kant Paudel to secretary and appointed him as the Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province.
After sending Baral to Bagmati Province, the government recalled the current Chief Secretary, Mahadev Pantha, to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. A source said the government will assign him a new responsibility in a few days.
