Govt to conduct free PCR test for workers going abroad for work

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The government will provide free RT-PCR tests for COVID-19 to all Nepali nationals going for foreign employment. The Ministry of Health and Population has made a ministerial decision to provide free RT-PCR testing to the migrant workers.

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The government will provide free RT-PCR tests for COVID-19 to all Nepali nationals going for foreign employment. The Ministry of Health and Population has made a ministerial decision to provide free RT-PCR testing to the migrant workers.


The RT-PCR test will be free of cost for all workers going for foreign employment from government-run Shukraraj Tropical Hospital Teku, Bir Hospital and Central Public Health Laboratory. Earlier, PCR tests at government hospitals and laboratories cost Rs 800.

For the PCR, the eligible ones have to submit the documents that validate that they are going abroad for foreign employment. Earlier, the government had made special arrangements for COVID-19 vaccine to youths going for foreign employment.
