POKHARA, Oct 16: Former finance minister and senior CPN-UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari has blamed the government for the delay in the construction of proposed international airport in Pokhara.

Speaking at a program organized here on Tuesday, Adhikari said anomalies of the Maoist-led government have jeopardized the construction process. "I was confident about the construction of the airport, but the Maoist government created unnecessary hassles," he said. "It is very unfortunate that the project is not going ahead despite the fact that the Chinese government is ready to grant the soft loan and the government too had acquired the required land some three decades ago." Adhikari said the obstacles faced by the project could be settled only after the formation of a consensus government. He also felicitated 90 senior citizens of Pokhara aged above 80 years at the program.
