Govt’s policies, program are ritualistic: CPN-UML

KATHMANDU, May 20: Main opposition, CPN-UML has termed the government annual policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year a ritual document.


Talking to media persons while emerging from the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Friday, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli made such an allegation.


UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said the annual policies and programs has conspicuously lacked concrete measures and proposals to resolve the present day problems.

"The government document does not include concrete and effective measures to address the current economic and social challenges as well as the bad governance and corruption propping up in the country", he noted.


Commenting on the annual policies and programs, Janata Samajwadi Party Chair Upendra Yadav dubbed the policies-programs appropriate.


Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers Peasants Party Prem Suwal said the annual policies and programs were like a long prose and ancient tale.


Rstriya Janamorcha Chair Chitra Bahadur KC termed the annual policies and programs 'ritualistic' which he claimed would not resolve the national problems.


RPP parliamentarian Gyan Bahadur Shahi said the annual policies and programs were so far so good, stressing on the implementation of the measures.


CPN (Maoist Centre) parliamentarian Mahendra Bahadur Shahi said it was all-inclusive, stressing the need of spurring investment in infrastructure.


RSP lawmaker Santosh Pariyar said the policies-programs have not addressed today's economic and political crises.


Nepali Congress lawmaker Jeewan Pariyar said the annual policies and programs have placed emphasis on development works, agriculture, energy, tourism and employment sectors.
