KATHMANDU, June 4: The government has revealed that the Disaster Management Fund holds over Rs 4.65 billion in reserve.
Bandhu Prasad Bastola, Acting Executive Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, said authorities have set aside the amount for use during disaster-related emergencies.

He reported that the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund holds Rs 1.89 billion, the Central Disaster Management Fund contains Rs 1.28 billion, and the Provincial Disaster Management Fund maintains Rs 794.1 million.
The NDRRMA reported that Koshi Province holds a reserve of Rs 60.9 million, Madhesh Province Rs 117.8 million, Bagmati Province Rs 75.8 million, Gandaki Province Rs 250 million, Lumbini Province Rs 65 million, Karnali Province Rs 95.2 million, and Sudurpaschim Province Rs 118.9 million.
Bastola added that all 77 districts collectively hold Rs 690.5 million in their disaster management funds. He said the authority has ramped up preparations for this year's monsoon response and assigned clear responsibilities to various agencies.
"We have fully assigned each cluster with responsibilities to handle emergencies," he said, "We have completed all necessary preparations to enable immediate deployment in case of a disaster." He added that they will mobilize the reserved funds promptly as needed during emergencies.
