KATHMANDU, March 15: The government has recommended to President Bidya Devi Bhandari to prorogue the ongoing winter session of parliament.
A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday made a decision to recommend to President Bhandari to prorogue the ongoing parliament session effective from midnight today, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

The winter session of parliament started on September 8. However, the session could not function smoothly due to continued obstruction by the main opposition party, CPN-UML. Despite this, the house session ratified the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant agreement and an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana was registered in parliament.
