KANCHANPUR, Jan 19: The government handed over an integrated settlement for freed Haliya in Kanchanpur district on Sunday.
Minister for Land Management Padma Aryal formally inaugurated the settlement for freed Haliya at Baghphanta area in Bhimduttanagar municipality-19 by cutting the ribbon of a newly constructed house belonging to Dhaniram Luhar.
This is the first-ever integrated settlement handed over to Haliya (former bonded farmers) by the government officially, according to a press release issued by Minister Aryal's secretariat.
734 freed haliya rehabilitated
32 houses have been constructed in the area for Haliya.
The settlement was constructed as part of the Haliya Rehabilitation Program launched by the Ministry of Land Management in September 2018.
