Govt at work to introduce one-door policy

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav today said that the government was at work to introduce one-door policy in a bid to attract foreign investment. 


Inter-ministerial coordination has been intensified with the objectives of facilitating the registration of foreign investment industries, the minister informed at a program 'bilateral investment agreement' organised here by the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal.

Expressing his worry about foreign investment companies being discouraged by registering companies that match the name of foreign companies, he notified that he has directed action against the illegal activity. 


On a different note, the minister reiterated the continuation of the campaign to take action against traders and industrialists producing and selling substandard materials and food items. 


Also on the occasion, the Ministry's Joint Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai shared that the process to make laws on intellectual property has reached at its final stage, while former Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Dr Shankar Sharma stressed the need for focusing on country's welfare and interest in attracting foreign investment. 


President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries Hari Bhakta Sharma suggested amendment to the 36 existing laws that are creating 'unfavourable environment' against industry operation in the country.
