The girl, who had accompanied her facebook friend of three-month to the apartment of another man, was killed following a scuffle that ensued after she refused to have sex with the owner of the apartment, whom the police has refused to identify. Two days after she was reported missing on February 20, the body of the girl, Venisha Limbu, from Rajarani-3, Dhankuta, who had been residing in Kapan, was found buried near a bamboo grove in Bhaktapur.
Limbu, a the 12th grader at Lumbini College and a teacher at Kalopul-based school, met a group of boys via her three-month-long facebook friend Rajan Rai, 19, of Morang district.
Of the four people who are said to have some connection in the crime, three, including Rai, have already come into the police net. While the other two arrested are Sunny Lama, 28, and Sajit Lama, 24, of Bauddha, the police has refused to divulge any details regarding the fourth accused, whose insistence on having sex with Venisha led to her death.
According to SSP Sarbendra Khanal, chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, the girl had accompanied Rai to Hard Rock Restaurant based in Thamel, but returned to an apartment near Bouddha Gate with Sunny Lama under the influence of alcohol. The owner of the apartment himself drove the couple to his flat and let them sleep in one room while he went to bed in another room, the police said.
But after a while, the man knocked on the door of the couple's room with the intention to have sex with Limbu.
After the man asked Sunny to leave the room, the two had a minor quarrel. In meantime, the girl entered the toilet to protect herself from rape.
"But the man forced himself into the toilet and pushed the girl from the window of the sixth-floor apartment after she continued to resist his attempt to rape her," said SSP Khanal.
Venisha, who was seriously injured after the fall, was still alive when the man and Sunny reached for her, but the duo, instead of taking her to the hospital, drove her around in the man's vehicle. She died shortly after, the police said.
The two decided to bury the girl and took the body to Bhaktapur.
Four days after she had gone missing, her family members filed complaints at Bauddha-based police station. Tipped off by some construction workers at Nagarkot, Metropolitan Police Range Office, Bhaktapur recovered the body in a half-naked state, with no inner garments.
The arrested have been sent to Range Office, Bhaktapur for further interrogation.
