The four-day tournament is sponsored by Nepal´s first professional golfer and former president of Nepal Professional Golfers´ Association (NPGA), Ghanashyam Thapa.
The tournament will be played over 72 holes and will feature 28 professional and 12 top amateur golfers. The cut will be applied after 36 holes with the top 20 professionals and amateurs making it to the last 36 holes.
According to NPGA, most of the participants played a practice round on the course to acclimatize to the conditions.
The event carries a total purse of Rs 300,000 and the winner will get a check of Rs 55,000. Likewise, the runner-up will receive Rs 37,000 while the third-place holder will earn Rs 29,000.
Top-ranked and winner of the Surya Nepal Masters Shiva Ram Shrestha along with Ramesh Nagarkoti, Umesh Nagarkoti, Rabi Khadka and Sanjay Lama will be strong contenders for the title.
Similarly, players of Surya Nepal NGA Youth Development Program, Dinesh Prajapati, Bikash Bogati, Michael Rai, Sunil KC, Ashish Pariyar along with Tashi Tshiring will be vying for the amateur title.
