Germany provides grant of Rs 219m

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Federal Republic of Germany has agreed to provide a grant assistance of euro 2 million (about Rs 219 million) to Nepal for supporting the activities of Nepal Peace Trust Fund (NPTF).



Issuing a press statement, Ministry of Finance (MoF) said the grant assistance will be utilized to co-finance various projects of NPTF and also to carry out the activities like cantonment management and integration/rehabilitation of Maoist combatants, assistance to conflict affected persons, reconstruction of public infrastructure, promotion of security and transitional justice, and support to Constituent Assembly, among others.[break]



The German government has been supporting the peace process in Nepal under the financial agreements and the Joint Financing Arrangements (JFAs) signed with the Government of Nepal.



Lal Shanker Ghimire, joint secretary at Ministry of Finance, and Christian Richter, regional manager (South Asia) of KfW and Jan Schilling, country manager for Bangladesh and Nepal of KfW signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
