KATHMANDU, Sept 7: General Secretary of the ruling Nepal Congress (NC), Gagan Thapa raised a question in today’s meeting of the House of Representative (HoR), asking, “Can’t one walk alone in Kathmandu?”

During the special hour in the HoR meeting, Thapa directed a question at the Prime Minister and the Home Minister expressing concern that one will no longer feel safe to walk alone in Kathmandu.

While wishing speedy recovery of NC Joint General Secretary Mahendra Yadav, he said, “He is alive by luck. Worse would have happened if he had not escaped. The man who fatally attacked Yadav has been arrested. Attempts are being made to dismiss the matter. But this issue should be thoroughly investigated. Each and every aspect related to the incident should be uncovered.

Furthermore, Thapa called upon the home minister, stating that walking alone in Kathmandu appears to be fraught with risks. He asked, “Can't one walk alone in Kathmandu anymore? Some are issuing arson threats, while others are resorting to Khukuri attacks.”

NC leader Yadav was attacked while returning after attending a program at the Reporters Club Nepal on Wednesday afternoon. He is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under the supervision of doctors at the National Trauma Center.
