Fuel tanker plunges into Trishuli River, driver and helper remain unscathed

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: A Kathmandu-bound fuel tanker plunged into the Trishuli River on Saturday night.

The tanker with registration number Na 4 Kha 2822 skidded off the road at Galchhi Rural Municipality-6, Charaudi, and plunged some 500 meters down into the river at around 2AM. The fuel tanker caught fire as it plunged into the river.

According to the District Police Office, Dhading, the fire was brought under control with the help of a fire extinguisher. The fuel tanker is half-submerged in water.

Rescue operation is currently underway, according to the district police.

The driver and helper of the fuel tanker have remained unscathed and have come into police contact following the incident, according to police.
