KATHMANDU, July 5: The District Court, Sankhuwasabha, has sentenced four persons to life imprisonment for the murder of six members of the same family in the district.
The sentence was handed down by a single bench of District Court Judge Shanti Prasad Acharya. The gruesome murders took place on 14 September, 2021 in Madi Municipality of Sankhuwasabha

According to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, five persons were confirmed to have been involved in the massacre but one of them is a minor. "Four defendants have been sentenced to life imprisonment and slapped with a cash fine of Rs 200,000 each. The minor has been sentenced to two-thirds of 25 years of imprisonment,” the statement said.
A case was filed against Ran Bahadur Karki and his sons Lok Bahadur, 28, and Naresh, 17, in connection with the murder of six members of the same family regarding some personal vendetta on September 7, 2008. Similarly, 47-year-old Khadaga Bahadur Karki and his son Hasta Bahadur Karki, 28, were also involved in the case.
Tej Bahadur Karki, 55, his mother Parvati Karki, wife Kamala, daughter-in-law Ranjana Karki, 32, grandchildren Bipin Karki 8, and Goma Karki, 5, were killed in the incident.
