ITAHARI, Aug 15: The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was detected in four inmates of Jhumka Prison, the biggest detention center in eastern Nepal, on Saturday.

According to undersecretary of the jail administration, Anil Khanal, they (four infected) were recently brought there from Dhanusha. “They were kept separately since their transfer.”

The number of inmates in Jkumka Prison is beyond capacity which has increased the risk of transmission of various viral diseases among the prisoners.

However, the administration is doing its best to solve this problem and contain the viral outbreak of diseases like COVID-19.
