Former King urges political parties not to delay cooperation with the monarchy

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Former King Gyanendra Shah has asked political parties for cooperation. 


While issuing a message on the occasion of the Democracy Day, the former King Shah asked the country’s political parties not to delay cooperation between the monarchy and political parties to save the country.

Former King said, “There should be no delay for the cooperation between political parties, which are indispensable for democracy and to save the country, and the monarchy with a long patriotic historical legacy with mutual trust.”


He also said that he can no longer remain silent about the continuous decline of Nepal. "We can no longer remain silent about the continuous decline of Nepal. During these years, the country's long-term peace, stability and international respect and sovereignty have begun to crumble," Former King said via the statement.


Shah has asserted that even though the reins of the state institutions are repeatedly held in the hands of judges or are being changed, our existing state system has not made any profound contribution to the happiness, peace and prosperity of the people.
