Former Israeli envoy to Nepal Yaron Mayer's spouse launches book in Tel Aviv

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: A book titled "Sitapaila", authored by Neichu Mayer, the spouse of former Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Yaron Mayer, was unveiled in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv recently.

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: A book titled "Sitapaila", authored by Neichu Mayer, the spouse of former Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Yaron Mayer, was unveiled in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv recently.


The author has portrayed experiences of her son Shohn while living at the ambassador's residence based in Sitapaila, Kathmandu, through the book.


According to the Nepal Embassy in Israel, the book was released coinciding with the 60th founding anniversary of the Nepal-Israel diplomatic relationship. The book was released amid a program organized at the ambassador's residence in Herzliya, Israel.

Addressing the event, Nepal's Ambassador to Israel Anjan Shakya felicitated Neichu Mayer and her son Shohn.  She thanked them for bringing the book. "I believe that this book helps add a new avenue to our friendly ties," the ambassador said.


On the occasion, the author Neichu Mayer recalled some of the moments in Nepal including the 2015 devastating earthquake.


Addressing the event, Gilad Cohen, who oversees Nepal desk at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Israel and Nepal have been enjoying friendly ties for decades.



Yaron Mayer, the former ambassador to Nepal, shared that his wife's book will help deepen ties between Israel and Nepal. "I am happy that my wife has brought this book. It helps me to recall my nice stay in Nepal. I am keen to visit Nepal again in future," he said.  "Sitapaila" is a children's book printed in London, United Kingdom. Neichu Mayer and her son Shohn stayed in Nepal from 2014-2017.
