KATHMANDU, June 14: Former Education Minister and ruling Nepal Communist Party leader Dhaniram Poudel died in Chitwan after suffering a heart attack on Friday morning. He was 53.
Poudel died of cardiac arrest at his home at 7 am today, according to NCP's district chairman Yam Bahadur Pariyar.

The family members rushed him to Madi-based Bagauda Hospital after he suffered cardiac arrest. However, the doctors pronounced him dead.
Leader Poudel became education minister during the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government in 2016-17. He was elected the member of the Constituent Assembly from Chitwan. Later on, Poudel was nominated the central committee member of the ruling NCP.
He also served as a central chairperson of the ANNISU (Revolutionary), the student wing of the then CPN (Maoist). He was also a writer and journalist. His spouse Ganga Belbase is also a central committee member of the NCP. He is survived by two daughters.
NCP chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal along with other central leaders of the party are scheduled to attend the final rites of Poudel in Chitwan later today. (with inputs from RSS)
