Footland shoes in market

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Mega Shoes Industries has introduced a new brand of footwear - Footland - in the Nepali market. The company currently manufactures 20 different varieties of men´s shoes.



“We have an exclusive outlet in New Road and have sent it to many dealers and retail shops in major cities across the country,” said Navaraj Pokharel, proprietor of Mega Shoes Industries.[break]



Footland shoes are available in different varieties like party shoes, school shoes, formal shoes, casual shoes and slippers.



Mega Shoes Industries has production facility at Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.



Though the market of Nepali shoes is growing, it is still dominated by imported shoes.



According to industry people, Nepali companies enjoy around 40 percent share in the men´s shoes market.



Established players like Shikhar Shoes and BF Dear Hill have been manufacturing shoes for years and gradually increasing their market presence. Promoters of Mega Shoes Industries are hopeful that their products will help increase market share of Nepali shoes.







Mega Shoes Industries is planning to conduct massive branding exercise in the near future. It also plans to embark on market expansion activities. “We´ll make sure that our products are available across the country as our products are affordable,” said Pokharel.



Shoes manufactured by Mega Shoes Industries are available in range of Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,200. Pokharel said they were preparing to launch new varieties in the near future. The company currently is selling about 100 pairs of shoes a day.



“We´ve got very good response from the market maybe because we launched our products right before the Dashain festival,” Pokharel said, adding, “We want to maintain the pace.”

Mega Shoes Industries plans to sell at least 30,000 pairs of shoes in the first year of its establishment.
