KATHMANDU, June 23: Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) is organizing Food Fair 2016 at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall from Friday with the objective of informing people about the importance of healthy food and promoting consumption of locally produced food items.





The two-day fair will have altogether 78 stalls - 18 showcasing traditional food, 24 informative stalls and 36 stalls selling foods produced by different Nepali industries, according to Purna Chandra Osti, spokesperson of DoFTQC.

“The fair basically aims to bring about changes in people's eating habits by providing information about food safety issues. We will also provide information about nutrition value ion food, among others,” Osti said, adding that the event also aims to inform public about food technologies and food researches.




Officials of DoFTQC also said that the event will display different machineries and technologies used in food processing. According to Osti, the event will see active participation of students of Hotel Management and Food Technology.
