KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The acting president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Ramesh Bista, resigned from his post on Friday, citing his inability to hold the federation’s election due to complications in the membership verification.
Earlier, Bipul Pokharel resigned from the post of the FNJ president and Bista had become the acting president. He has submitted his resignation to the FNJ Vice President Bala Adhikari and General Secretary Rosan Puri through a notice.

He stated in his resignation letter that he was dissatisfied with the FNJ’s decision to grant membership to nearly 400 individuals who had not followed the FNJ’s bylaws and structure, and who had not filled out the required forms.
Acting President Bista sent a letter to the FNJ’s Central Election Committee on Thursday, requesting to postpone the upcoming election program for the time being. After receiving his letter, the election committee announced that the election program has been postponed indefinitely.
Likewise, voting to elect a new leadership of the FNJ was scheduled for September 28 with the candidacy registration fixed for September 20 (today). However, the election of the new leadership of the FNJ has become uncertain due to the controversy.
