The team demanded this saying that the ban has put investment worth billions of rupees of industrialists at risk of sinking.[break]
Earlier, the government has formed a committee led by Joint-Secretary of Environment Ministry Purushottam Ojha following the Supreme Court´s decision to ban the export of sand and pebble to India.
According to entrepreneurs, the ban has affected the export of sand and pebble worth Rs. 1.8 billion in the last five months and some of them are unable to repay the interest and principal amount to banks.
The delegation told the Prime Minister that the dual situation—the state allowing entrepreneurs to export on one hand and banning them from doing so on the other hand—will affect domestic and foreign investment at the same time.
The Prime Minister was told that the government should study the advantage and disadvantage of crusher factories and bring in a policy to conserve ecosystem and requested him to resolve the row within 15 days.
Maoist leaders Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Bam Dev Chhetri, UML leaders Bishnu Poudel, CA member Netra Panthi and Nepali Congress leader and Irrigation Minister Bal Krishna Khand were in the delegation.
There are nearly 200 crusher industries in the country with 48 and 21 alone in Rupandehi and Kapilvastu districts.
