FNCCI  voting resumes after halted briefly by protestors

KATHMANDU, April 12: The voting under the election of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) that was stopped for a while has resumed. The polling was interrupted after some voters and supporters started a protest at the polling venue.

KATHMANDU, April 12: The voting under the election of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) that was stopped for a while has resumed. The polling was interrupted after some voters and supporters started a protest at the polling venue.


The voting was halted for some time as the supporters started hooting and asking for votes in favor of the senior candidate.

Voting resumed after the officials of the election committee came and removed the rioters and increased the security of the polling station Pragya Bhawan.


The voting to elect a new working committee (2080-2083) of the FNCCI that was supposed to start at 8AM today, started two hours later due to the lack of technical preparation.


According to the FNCCI statute, after the general assembly, the current senior vice president Chandra Prasad Dhakal will automatically become the president of the federation for three years.


Anjan Shrestha, Ramchandra Sanghai and Umesh Lal Shrestha are competing for the position of Senior Vice President. Former Vice President Umesh Lal Shrestha, current Associates and commodity Vice Presidents Ramchandra Sanghai and Anjan Shrestha have entered the competition along with their respective panels.
