Flow of methane gas continues for hours in Jorpati

KATHMANDU, July 19: The flow of methane gas in Jorpati has not stopped even after several hours since it started on Tuesday morning.

KATHMANDU, July 19: The flow of methane gas in Jorpati has not stopped even after several hours since it started on Tuesday morning.


On Monday morning, the gas was released while digging a wellbore for water at the house of local Santa Bahadur Lama. The gas released along with the burst of mud and water has reached up to about 50 meters.

According to the police, there was no further damage except that the surrounding houses were filled with mud when the sand and mud flew towards the sky.


A geologist from the Department of Mines and Geology who had come to study the incident has said that it is not certain how long the gas flow continues.
