NEPALGUNJ, Sept 2: Most of the hilly and mountainous districts of mid-and-far western regions have witnessed an acute shortage of foodstuffs, including daily essential goods due to the disruption of flight service in the regions for the last 18 days.

Regular flights are not being operated in Humla, Mugu, Kalikot, Dolpa, Rukum, Bajhang, Bajura and other districts due to unfavourable weather, informed civil aviation office in the district. [break]

Food crisis will loom large in the districts if food supply is not made at the earliest, according to Nepal Food Corporation. Flight services have been disrupted in rainy season every year in these districts which are out of road networks.

Hundreds of passengers of mountainous districts have been stranded here after the flight services disrupted while patients coming to Nepalgunj for treatment have been hit hard.
