KATHMANDU, June 28: Five major students unions have decided to stage a protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) in all 77 districts across the country.
A meeting of main leaders of Nepal Student Union, ANNISU (Revolutionary), ANNFSU, Socialist Student Union and Akhil Sixth held in the capital on Sunday decided to stage a joint protest against the HoR dissolution, according to GP Mainali, spokesperson for ANNISU (Revolutionary).

President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the lower house of parliament at the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. A writ petition was then filed in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of parliament. A constitutional bench is currently conducting hearings on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of parliament.
The student unions have also urged one and all not to interfere in the independent decision of the court regarding the dissolution of HoR. They have also expressed confidence that the apex court would reinstate the dissolved parliament.
Likewise, the meeting has decided to send a joint delegation to the Vice-Chancellor with a memorandum to discuss examinations and educational problems seen in the university.
The unions have also demanded private educational institutions to refund students' fees during the lockdown period and warned of stringent protests if they fail to do so. Similarly, the students’ unions have demanded the government make necessary arrangements of COVID-19 vaccines to students and teachers and develop conducive educational environment as soon as possible.
