BARA, Aug 21: The agitating family of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary and local authorities reached a five-point agreement late Thursday night over the rape and murder of the three-year-old girl in Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No. 1. Following the agreement, all protest programs have been suspended.
The incident occurred on August 18. Talks between the victim’s family, relatives, local representatives, political party representatives and the District Security Committee, Bara, were held Thursday night at the Armed Police Force’s Technical Training Academy in Pathlaiya.

After lengthy negotiations, the two sides reached a five-point agreement and decided to suspend all ongoing protest programs for the time being, according to Assistant Chief District Officer of Bara Chhabiraman Bhattarai.
The meeting also agreed to recommend to the Ministry of Home Affairs, with the participation of the local government, measures to provide appropriate relief and employment support to the victim’s family.
The parties further agreed that although suspects currently remain in police custody, anyone else found to have been involved in the crime during the investigation will face strict legal action.
Jitpur Simara Sub Metropolitan City Ward No. 1 Chairperson Hira Bahadur Lama, who attended the talks, said the District Security Committee has taken responsibility for analysing current and emerging security challenges in the district and ensuring a reliable security environment.
Lama said the administration and the victim’s side also agreed to end the protests after their demand for action against security personnel accused of negligence while serving at the Area Police Office, Simara, was addressed.
