First Nepal kyokushin-kan karate championship concludes

Pokhara, Jan 16: The Gandaki state-level full contact and first Nepal Kyokushin-kan Karate Championship concluded in Dhungesanghu on Wednesday.


Nepal Kyokushin-kan Karate Association Kaski, organised the 19th Machhapuchhre Gandaki State-Level Full Contact and first Nepal Kyokushin-kan Karate Championship. With the slogan 'Sports for health, sports for nation', the championship started at Pokhara Stadium on January 14.

In the championship, Shalin KC emerged winner in men's category on 25-kg followed by Satkar Pratyal in second position and Pramesh Magar and Nasib Thapa in third position. In the 30-kg category, Rohan Acharya became the winner while Abhisekh Tamang clinched second and Sobin Pratyal and Praneel Shrestha got third position.


Likewise, Roshan Gurung, Rajan Pokharel, Rajesh Gautam, Yubaraj Gurung, Suman Baram and Govinda Roka clinched winner title in 35-kg, 40-kg, 45-kg, 50-kg, 55-kg and open weight categories. In the women's championship, Matrika Shahi became the winner in 40-kg weight, Manisha Tamnang in 45-kg, Sargam Kumal in 50-kg and Yunika Sherchan in the open category.


Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Biswokarma and Kyokushan-kan Association central chair Binaya Malla, among others gave away awards and certificates to the winning players.


Total of 50 Karate players had participated in the championship.
