First group of foreign tourists in Dhangadi

DHANGADI, March 4: Dhangadi received a group of six German tourists -- the first ever group of foreign tourists to visit the far-western region during Nepal Tourism Year 2011. Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) region organized a special welcome event to receive the group on Thursday.



“We held a special event because this is the first group of foreign tourists that the region has hosted this year,” said Mohan Sharma, secretary of KCCI.[break]



The group arrived here under the initiative of Nawaraj Rosyara, a Nepali who is pursuing a doctorate degree in Germany. The group entered Dhangadi via Gaddachauki customs, traveling by road from New Delhi, India.



Locals praised Rosyara for promoting tourism of his birthplace. The group plans to travel to Khaptad National Park.



Simmone Herald, chemical engineer and a member of the team, shared she was excited about the trip although she is yet to explore the far-western region. She said she would suggest her friends to visit Nepal.
