First ever NVA Awards on Monday

KATHMANDU, JAN 21: Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) is set to felicitate the best player, coach and team by ‘Nepal Volleyball Associations Awards’ on Monday.


The eight different categories based on the performances in the season 2017/18 will be awarded which includes Best Player (male and female), Emerging Player (male and female), Best Coach (male and female) and Best Team (male and female) said Jitendra Chand, the general secretary of NVA.

City tours and travels are set to be main sponsors for the awards. The President of NVA Manoranjan Sharma signed the contract papers with head of City tours and travels Shir Bahadur Tamang. The travel agency is set to provide NRs 105,000 in three yearly installments.


“Helping hands are always there if you work honestly. We are excited to have the support from private sector. It will boost the players’ confidence too”, said the President Sharma in the program. Similarly, City travels head Tamang felt proud to be associated with the NVA. ‘We are excited be first to be part of an award program since its announcement as national sports” said Tamang.


A jury panel of Niroj Masko, the vice-president of NVA, Sun Keshari Maali, Rita Koirala, Indira Niraula, Junu Pun, Jyoti KC, Salina Shrestha will pick the best nominees for the awards.


Best player and coach (male and female) will get Rs 25,000 each whereas emerging player will get Rs 15,000. Also, the best team (male and female) of last year will get cash prize of Rs 50,000.


40 associations working for volleyball will get playing materials for their contribution for the sports said general secretary Chand.
