JANAKPURDHAM, May 4: Property worth over Rs 460 million has been gutted in fire in various districts of Madhesh Province in the last 10 months, according to the Madhesh Province Police Office.
As per the data the police collected from the districts, fire incidents occurred in all eight districts of the Province during this period. Dhanusha district incurred biggest loss of properties worth over Rs 80 million followed by Mahottari worth Rs 40 million plus.
Fire guts property worth 2 m in Saptari
Similarly, the houses and chattels perished in the fire amounted to Rs 40 million in Sarlahi. Similarly, the damage caused due to fire incidents is estimated to be around Rs 50 million in Saptari, Rs 80 million in Siraha, Rs 49 million in Rautahat, Rs 40 million in Bara and Rs 50 million in Parsa district.
Altogether 216 fire incidents were recorded in Siraha district, the highest, with 106 in Sarlahi, the lowest in the Province during the period.
Dearth of rainfall for a prolonged period caused soaring heat and hot air, according to the police's estimate. Also, negligence on the part of human and technical issues were also the reasons behind blazes in the Province.
