KATHMANDU, March 10: Newly-appointed Finance Minister Barshman Pun has urged American investors to participate in the upcoming Investment Summit to be held in Kathmandu in April.
In a meeting with Dean Thompson, the US ambassador to Nepal, who reached the ministry on Sunday to meet him, Pun asked the US envoy to create an environment for more investors to come.

Pun said that there is a suitable environment for foreign investment in Nepal and the government is ready for the necessary legal and practical facilitation for that. "Nepal is a virgin land for international investors," Pun said, "Through you, I would like to request that American investors participate in the investment conference as much as possible." Pun said that agriculture, industry and IT are good potential areas for investment in Nepal.
Stating that the investment summit will be held on the stipulated date, FinMin Pun mentioned that the government is speeding up the preparations for the same.
In response, Ambassador Thompson said that a large number of American investors are willing to come to the investment summit. He said that US investors are attracted to come to Nepal and promised that the US Embassy in Nepal will actively support in creating an environment for that.
